Garden Prep Pointers: 

*Select full sun location

*Till soil thoroughly, mix in 2/3 cup 15-15-15 per plant, or organic fertilizer (amount specified on package).

Planting Season: 

*Transplants: Plant outside Late March – June 15th.

Plant Selection Tips: 

*Look for Lush green foliage with ruby red stems.

*Choose plants with larger pots (representing greater root growth and a healthier plant) or dormant bare root plants.

Planting Guide:

*Plant 36” apart, 4-5 ft. between rows.

*Choose location for long term, as Rhubarb lives a long time.

Planting Notes: 

* Bare roots: Set Buds about 1" below soil surface

*Growing Plants - Plant so top of root mass is just below soil surface.

*Water thoroughly (continue to keep bare roots moist until plants  have grown at least 2 leaves.

Upkeep:

*Fertilize with 2/3 cup 15-15-15 around plant base each Spring.

*Remove any seed stalks as they are draining to the plant's energy.

*Keep area weed free.

Fruiting Habits:

            *Let plants become established the first year, and do not harvest

            *Harvest each Spring afterwards by trimming stalks off.

            *Macdonald Rhubarb

Grower Notes:

            *Plants can last YEARS, location is important, but they can be moved if you change houses or landscaping.

Fruits of Knowledge: 

*The three numbers on fertilizer represent percent Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium respectively.  For example 12-15-12 signifies 12lbs nitrogen, 15lbs phosphorus, 12lbs potassium per 100lbs applied
